With over 900 businesses in a span of 53-block, the City Center Business District stands high in the core of Downtown San Diego. City Center is the first Business Improvement District in the City of San Diego. It was established in 1972 with the primary purpose of driving economic development Downtown. Over the last 49 years, City Center has seen economic growth through the development of high-density commercial space, hotels, performance arts, and theatres. City Center is the home of our San Diego government; the decisions made in City Center further improve our beautiful San Diego City and Region. The future of the City Center Business District is to continue to foster a thriving workforce and arts center by embracing placemaking, community, and events.
