Parks
Cortez Hill Park – Cortez Hill Park provides a landscape buffer between the Cortez neighborhood and the I-5 freeway. The park offers curved walking paths, a play area for small children, benches, pedestrian-scaled lights, litter receptacles, pet rest area facilities, new trees, shrubs and groundcovers, and a small portion of lawn near the play area. The park is more commonly referred to as “Tweet Street Park” as it features a bird-oriented theme with artistic birdhouses and use of plants to encourage urban birds to take up residence. The area along Date Street is part of Balboa Park; the 10th Avenue portion is within the Caltrans right-of-way.
