In 2016, the Downtown San Diego Partnership convened a dynamic group of industry leaders to engage in thoughtful conversations and purposeful actions to empower women to take on leadership roles in both the workplace and community. Through this action, the Women of the Partnership initiative was formed.
The Women of the Partnership is a group of industry leaders working to promote collaboration, foster professional growth, and inspire women to build strong relationships within the Downtown Partnership and our San Diego community.

American women trail considerably behind men when it comes to their representation in leadership positions, according to recent studies by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In a vast array of fields, the presence of women in top leadership roles – such as equity law partners and corporate executive officers – remains stuck between 10 to 20 percent, despite the fact that women make up 49 percent of the college-educated workforce.
Creating a network of support is crucial in the pursuit of a more balanced representation of women in leadership positions. At the Downtown San Diego Partnership, we believe that gender parity among top decision-makers will promote more prosperous, diverse, and meaningful business opportunities throughout San Diego’s urban core and across the entire region.
